I don’t listen to “screamo” “punk” or “emo” music, but you know what: the fact that it reduced suicide rates by 89% means that this genre of music is worth something. When we talk about music and art as whole, we have to remember that it’s all a matter of opinion. But we should all respect these opinions, and not judge based on how you feel. Just think of Macklemore’s line from Thrift Shop: “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” We also have to be careful of criticizing people’s music tastes because for a lot of people, if not all people, music is the escape and/or someone’s reason to live. If you just keep on trashing someone’s music taste, it’s kind of like you’re trashing the person. So….I just want you all to be careful. I posted this because in the past I’ve judged this genre of music because it’s not exactly my cup of tea. But after seeing this, I have to say that I’ve had a change of heart. Screamo/punk/emo music is REAL MUSIC. It’s compacted with a message, it evokes a feeling out of someone or makes them feel better, and it reduces MORTALITY RATES. This genre of music is SAVING PEOPLE. This genre of music is a superhero in itself. Music is like the hero of society: it unites people and it saves people. And even if this genre of music doesn’t “make you feel good” or “saves you” at least respect it. If you don’t have anything nice to say about it don’t say it at all. Simple as that. So I’d just like to advise you all to be careful of what you say, especially about other people’s music taste.
Finally…I encourage you all to REPOST. REPOST, REPOST, REPOST. Because this post is important.
